Profile information — name, bio, location, skills, and profile photo if you choose to add them
Content you post — questions, answers, comments, and any files you upload
Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent, and interactions within the community
Device information — browser type, operating system, and IP address

To verify your identity and keep your account secure
To send you notifications about community activity you’ve opted into
To send transactional emails (password resets, verification codes)
To enforce our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines
To comply with legal obligations including US sanctions law (OFAC)

3. Cookies

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our site. Third-party services we use (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) may also set cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work correctly.

Services we use

Google Analytics — measures site traffic and usage patterns
Google AdSense — displays contextual advertisements
GiveWP / PayPal / Stripe — processes optional donations to experts
Cloudflare — provides CDN, security, and geo-restriction services

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not control what they collect through their own systems.

5. AI Features

Bring-Your-Own-AI

Technerd does not operate its own AI service. If you choose to connect an AI assistant (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) using the AI panel, your API key and any prompts you send are transmitted directly from your browser to your chosen provider. Technerd’s servers do not receive, store, or log your API key or AI conversations.

6. Data Sharing

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

We may share information only in these limited circumstances:

With service providers who help us operate the platform (under strict data processing agreements)
When required by US law, court order, or government request
To comply with OFAC sanctions screening obligations
In connection with a merger or acquisition (you will be notified in advance)

7. Your Rights

What you can do

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information in your profile
Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
Opt out of marketing emails at any time
Export your posts and content

8. Data Retention

How long we keep data

We retain your account information as long as your account is active. Posts and community content may remain visible after account deletion (attributed to a deleted user). Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered members by email of any material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Technerd after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
